The date for the 2025 Missouri Community Forestry Council Conference has been set, and this year’s conference will take place in St. Louis, starting on Wednesday, September 24th and running until Friday, September 26th. Presenters at this year’s conference include Dr. Frank Rinn, Carrie Coyne, Dr. Linda Chalker-Scott, Doug Seely, Ann Koenig, Robbie Doerhoff, and Chelsi Abbot, along with several others, representing forestry-minded organizations such as Missouri Department of Conservation, Washington University, Rinntech, Davey Tree Resources, Beyond Housing, and Wright Tree Services. The conference will be located in the Holiday Inn St. Louis SW-Route 66, and each day of the conference will bring the topics of urban and community forestry, tree health and diagnostics, prescribed burning, and the link between trees and student success to an eager and diverse audience.
Besides lectures and presentations, this conference will also be punctuated by indoor and outdoor social events designed to bring participants together to share stories, ideas, and goals. As a member of the Columbia Tree Board and Project Director for Missouri Conservation Corps, I have been able to attend this conference for the last two years, and both times it was an energizing and a rewarding experience. The conference has enabled me to broaden my knowledge of community forestry, and to meet members of other Missouri organizations practicing forestry, habitat restoration, and community engagement.
