A special thanks goes to the women of Mizzou’s Delta Sigma Pi and Kappa Alpha Theta for coming out to Garth Nature Area on Sunday, October 20th and helping us plant trees!
Thanks to your energy and enthusiasm, Missouri Conservation Corps was able to plant native trees and shrubs from our friends at Forest ReLeaf of Missouri in an area of the park that had formerly been a wasteland of invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive, and pear trees!
Our volunteers also helped us water the new trees and install tree cages on each of the trees to protect them from deer this winter!
While we are handing out thanks, we also need to thank the mowing crew from Columbia Parks and Recreation for mowing and prepping the area before planting. Thanks!
