Missouri Conservation Corps considers environmental education a crucial component of its mission, a mission that also encompasses habitat restoration and community engagement. Our very first environmental education class was a lesson in forest ecology taught to our volunteers in Columbia’s Kiwanis Park, and we now strive to include environmental education and habitat awareness in all of our workdays.
Missouri Conservation Corps has recently begun to engage Columbia’s youth by providing environmental education components to an area summer camp, teaching the campers lessons in watershed mapping, native plants, invasive species, wild edibles, the importance of trees, and insect discovery.
