Summer is coming to an end, and Missouri Conservation Corps is ready for a brand new season of events! This upcoming fall, we will be present at a variety of events: honeysuckle removals, tree plantings, fundraisers, and community fairs. Opportunities abound for everyone to connect with us!
Featured Events
Our first volunteer event will be a tree planting on Saturday, September 6th at Gans Creek Recreation Area (3500 E Gans Rd, Columbia, MO) from 8 am to 12 pm. For this event, we are partnering with Columbia Parks and Rec and Volunteer Columbia, and we ask volunteers to please RSVP. You can do so through our website volunteer form, by emailing Project Director Stephen Bybee at [email protected], by emailing [email protected], or by self-registering if you are already a registered volunteer with the City of Columbia.
Alpine Shop has also invited Missouri Conservation Corps back for another year of fundraising and community engagement for Al-Pint Night! On Thursday, September 18th from 5 to 7 pm, we will be raising a glass for conservation inside Columbia’s Alpine Shop (1102 E Broadway, Columbia, MO). A $10 donation will get you two pours of Logboat Brewery beer or non-alcoholic soda while supporting our mission of habitat restoration. Whether you stop in for a little bit or stay for the whole time, it’ll be a great night where you can learn about our upcoming projects and connect to other community members who share a love for the environment. We can’t wait to see you there!
We are also excited to announce a series of educational programs on Monarch butterflies and Monarch tagging happening now through the end of September. Naturalist and educator Laura Semken will be offering free programs where participants can learn about the Monarch life cycle and migration, and there will be the opportunity to catch and tag these beautiful insects yourself.
