Over the summer, Missouri Conservation Corps puts together a series of classes for a local summer camp called Camp I Love Me. These nature excursions lead young campers out into Columbia’s parks, creeks, and green spaces for a variety of hands-on experiences and lessons.
This past summer, our classes included topics like native Missouri animals and their unique adaptations, cave and creek exploration, hiking and navigating our local trails, and so many more! These lessons help introduce Columbia and Boone County youth to the environment around them, and we love seeing them grow in their curiosity and understanding.
However, due to changes in funding, we no longer have the necessary means to continue our work with our campers in Camp I Love Me, but that doesn’t mean we want to stop. This December for CoMoGives, $5,000 of our $7,500 fundraising goal is dedicated to continuing our commitment to Camp I Love Me, and we need the support of our community members to achieve that. With your help, we can continue creating magical moments in nature.
