Columbia’s Alpine Shop is located at 1102 E. Broadway in downtown Columbia.  This event will run from 5-7 p.m.  Please stop by and join us!

DESCRIPTION:Missouri Conservation Corps is partnering with Missouri River Bird Observatory and Arrow Rock State Historic Site to remove invasive privet in the historic village of Arrow Rock.  Join us as we bring volunteers to Arrow Rock to improve the bird habitat and the hiking trails in the beautiful Arrow Rock State Historic Site\, 39521 Visitor Center Drive\, Arrow Rock.  MCC and MRBO will host two volunteer work days this fall\, on Saturday\, October 19th\, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, and again on Saturday\, November 2nd\, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. \nVolunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Arrow Rock Visitor Center\, 39521 Visitor Center Drive\, Arrow Rock.  Missouri Conservation Corps will provide tools\, gloves\, water\, and training.  Missouri River Bird Observatory will provide training\, management\, and a one hour children’s activity for children accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Arrow Rock State Historic Site will provide lunch on October 19th\, and snacks on November 2nd. \nFor more information contact Missouri Conservation Corps Project Director Stephen Bybee at stephen@missouriconservationcorps.org. DESCRIPTION:Missouri Conservation Corps is hosting a volunteer honeysuckle removal event in Columbia’s beautiful and scenic Garth Nature Area\, 2799 North Garth on Thursday\, October 17th.  Volunteers will be using handsaws and loppers to cut some very large honeysuckle in this 52 acre natural area…Missouri Conservation Corps will provide the tools\, training\, gloves\, bug spray and cold water…volunteers will need to wear clothing and footwear selected for outdoor work in a natural area\, and a water bottle would be a great asset during this hot weather.  This event will run from 4 p.m until 6 p.m.\, and volunteers can park at the Garth Nature Area parking lot at 2799 North Garth.  Follow the VOLUNTEER signs to our work location\, west of the parking lot.

SUMMARY:Bonnie View Nature Area Work Day with Columbia Audubon Society
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 12th Missouri Conservation Corps is collaborating with Columbia Audubon Society\, Columbia Parks and Rec\, and Wild Ones to host a volunteer work day in Columbia’s Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary.  This free volunteer event will run from 9 a.m. until noon and will involve invasive species removal and habitat restoration at the Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary\, 3300 West Rollins Road.  We will be cutting invasive honeysuckle\, autumn olive\, and multiflora rose in this 90 acre public park and nature sanctuary on the west side of Columbia. \nMissouri Conservation Corps and Columbia Audubon Society will provide gloves\, tools\, bug spray and training.  Volunteers are asked to bring a re-usable water bottle and to wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, as much of our work will be done in brushy\, thorny areas of the park.  Training and direction will be provided to volunteers at 9 a.m. at the shelter near the parking area.  Missouri Conservation Corps will also supply cold water\, and pizza will be served after the work ends at noon! \nFor more information or to register for this event\, please contact Missouri Conservation Corps Project Director Stephen Bybee at stephen@missouriconservationcorps.org \n
