SUMMARY:Volunteer Invasive Species Removal in Arrow Rock
DESCRIPTION:Missouri Conservation Corps is excited to be back in Arrow Rock\, MO this fall to improve native habitat in this picturesque and historic village in Saline County. We will once again be partnering with Missouri River Bird Observatory\, the Arrow Rock State Historic Site\, and the Columbia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Our work will involve cutting and removing invasive privet on the trails used by the young summer campers during MRBO’s annual Young Explorers’ Camp. By improving the trails\, we make it easier for the summer campers\, and the year-round trail users\, to spot birds\, discover native plants\, and enjoy the native habitat surrounding Arrow Rock. \nThis year’s volunteer workday in Arrow Rock takes place on Saturday\, November 7th\, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers will meet at 1 p.m. at the Arrow Rock Visitor Center (39521 Visitor Center Dr\, Arrow Rock\, MO 65320)\, and in case of rain\, we will postpone the event to Sunday\, November 8th\, 12 to 4 p.m. \nVolunteers will learn to identify and remove invasive privet using hand saws and loppers.
