Invasive Species Removal in Lion-Stephens Park

About the Event

Missouri Conservation Corps, in partnership with the Benton-Stephens Neighborhood Association, will host an invasive species work day in Columbia’s Lion-Stephens Park, 104 North William Street, on Saturday, December 6th, from 1-3 p.m. Volunteers will be working to remove invasive species and to pick up trash on the creek that runs through this beautiful city park on the east side of Columbia. Missouri Conservation Corps will provide the tools, gloves, and training for this event. Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather and for working in a brushy outdoor environment. Because we are working on what might be a cold day, volunteers are encouraged to dress in layers… Missouri Conservation Corps will bring hot cocoa and hot cider to provide a bit of warm encouragement to our volunteers during this outdoor event. Volunteers and neighbors are encouraged to bring treats or baked goods to share during the social part of the event, during which a brief history of the park and surrounding land will be shared with participants.
