Fall Festivals and Fundraisers…and Pizza!

AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer Anna provides MU students with volunteer opportunities and some conservation wisdom during the 2026 MU Volunteer Fair

Missouri Conservation Corps has been busy this summer and fall, organizing volunteer events in the parks, tagging monarch butterflies, and attending events in our community. In September we shared our mission, goals, and upcoming events with the students at Columbia College and MU during their campus volunteer fairs. We also made time to be a part of the Conservation Expo at Cooper’s Landing, where we spoke to community members about our volunteer programs in Columbia’s parks and green spaces. On a pleasant evening in late September, we were thrilled to be a part of the first Health In Nature Festival, a neighborhood-focused community event in the green space at Garth and Sexton. Here we shared information about our urban tree planting program, talked about the history of one of Columbia’s oldest oak trees, and we handed out acorns for participants to plant at home.

Just one day later we participated in our third Alpine Shop Pint Night Fundraiser. This year’s event was a grand success, bringing in more than 50 friends, partners, and community members to the Alpine Shop to support our organization. And there is more to come… in October, Missouri Conservation Corps will host a booth at Cloverstock on Sunday, October 11th from 11 am – 4 pm at Clovers Natural Market, 2100 Chapel Plaza Court, and we will be at the City Garden School Craft Fair on Saturday, October 17th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Garden School, 606 Ridgeway Avenue.

Finally, we will be participating in our first ever Shakespeare’s Pizza fundraiser, taking place on Thursday, October 8th. During this event, Shakespeare’s will donate 15% of all sales from all three stores if you share our flyer with them. We are SO excited to be a part of this, that we will be hosting a pizza-eating social at the Shakespeare’s south location at 3911 Peachtree Drive from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.  Come and join us, say hi, order a pizza, and hang out (if you aren’t too busy).
