Missouri Conservation Corps was recently featured in a Columbia Missourian article highlighting spring’s arrival in mid-Missouri. While documenting the colorful blooms appearing around town—from native eastern redbuds to violets—the piece specifically mentioned our organization’s crucial conservation efforts. The article spotlighted the annual Callery Pear buyback event on April 22, which encouraged residents to remove these invasive ornamental trees to help native species thrive.
Our regular honeysuckle removal events were also featured, with photographs showing volunteers actively removing this invasive species at Garth Nature Area. The article beautifully connected our hands-on community work to the broader seasonal transition happening across Columbia, reinforcing our mission of protecting Missouri’s native plant ecosystem through practical conservation initiatives.
