In 2023 Missouri Conservation Corps members and volunteers made an enormous impact in our community. Between February and late December, we hosted 27 volunteer work events, four native plantings, and six educational events in Columbia’s parks. Our incredible volunteers contributed more than 665 hours of service to our mission of honeysuckle removal and eradication, while also helping us plant more than 60 native trees and shrubs in Columbia’s Kiwanis Park.
Our partners and volunteers in 2023 included the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Hawthorn Chapter of Missouri Native Plant Society, Missouri River Relief, COMO Trails Association, Missouri Master Naturalists, Hickman High School Biology Club, Missouri Young Birders Club, Columbia Audubon Society, Columbia Parks and Rec, Grow Native, Volunteer Columbia, Missouri Stream Teams, Alpha Phi Omega, MU Women’s Law Association, Mizzou Silver Wings, Circle K International, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, The Columbia Tree Board, Columbia area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Columbia TreeKeeper Volunteers, Columbia Kiwanis Clubs, Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, and AmeriCorps NCCC.
Thank you to our wonderful partners and volunteers for making 2023 such an eventful and successful year for our nonprofit! We have already started planning our events for 2024, and will make announcements about our upcoming events on our Facebook page and here on our website. Here are just a few photos of our events and our volunteers in 2023.
